How do I manually load studio products from Rendo into Daz Studio 4.8? I am very confused by all the folders on my PC that refer to Daz Studio, so I don't know where to put the files. Can someone help? Thanks, drifterlee

Should be easy, just check your DAZ installation for: 'DAZ 3DStudioMy Library' and now it depends on the folder structure of the product. If it starts with 'My Lybrary' you can easyly copy that folder to 'DAZ 3DStudio ', if you se folder structures with 'data', 'People', 'Runtime', .. just copy that foöders to 'DAZ 3DStudioMy Library'. This is valid for PC's, I remember that is not that easy on Mac but not sure.

In Studio, there are 'content' directories, that Studio uses to store the 3d Content. You can find out the one you are using by accessing the Content Directory Manager within Studio. (from the Content Library panel, click the little menu icon, and select Content Directory Manager)
Under the Daz Studio Formats section, I believe DS sets one up under your user account, which ends in My Library. Such as: C:Users[username]DocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library
If that is what you use, then anything in Zip files in the products provided go in there. For example, open teh zip, if there is a content folder, open that, highlight all, and drop under My Library. (there should be matching folders it all merges into)
You can have multiple content folders..but then you need to know which one you use.
If the product just has a Runtime, then drop it in the runtime there, or you can look back into Directory manager under Poser Formats, and find where the Content/Runtime is for that stuff.
I 'think' this is all correct. I've never explained it, I just use it :)

Thank you, but I am still not getting it to work. Daz says there should be a Daz Studio folder, but instead I have DazStudioMy Library folder. Very confusing. Anyway, I installed the new files in that folder and nothing is working.

My partner Chris recently made a video on this, which you can find here:
Hopefully that will help you :)

I got V7 to work, thank you, but I bought a lot of V5 and M5 stuff for Daz Studio and it won't load because it is looking for missing file genesis base. No where I can find Genesis base. Does anyone know? Thanks

Daz3d Install Manager 64
For DAZ products, you should use the DAZ Install Manager (DIM). It will strip out the content from the content folders and place the files in the correct locations for DAZStudio. Manually dissecting those zips will cause more headaches than you want, like looking for your Genesis base.

I have to install manually things from Rendo. They are in zip files. How do I use install manager with the Rendo files? Also, I found Genesis starter essentials which had the base and now the M5 and V5 are working.

The base zip files for DAZ should adhere to a specific hierarchy format and be packaged so DIM can read and interpret how it is compiled. If the Renderosity files are not formatted in this method, you will not be able use DIM to install content into DAZStudio. I am aware of a free program for converting regular content zips to DIM format zips, but this not supported by DAZ3D, although it works very well as a private end-user product. Typical DIM zip files have an IMM prefix followed by vendor code and brief title description. If you do not see this format in Rendo based DAZ files, then you will need to install manually. Open the zip with a compression program and notice if there is a folder either entitled 'Content', 'My Library', or 'My DAZ Library', the folders within is what you need to install into DAZStudio preferred content folder. Do not install the parent folder. If you see multiple folders like 'data', 'runtime', etc, then you can unzip the content directly into DAZStudio.

Thank you. I will try all that. Right now I installed a bunch of new free stuff and none of it shows up. Where do I look for it?

Are they DS specific or intended for Poser? Did the zips contain a parent folder with all the content within? You're not giving enough information about the nature of the zips. If they are DAZ content specifically from DAZ3D, then they should be in your DS content folder. For others, we need to peek into the zips to determine where they go and how to find them.
drifterlee () () posted at 6:36AM Fri, 15 January 2016 · @4249240
they are daz specific. the downloads say they are for Daz Studio. I put them in Daz Studio, My Library, data, etc by each folder that matches.

Again, DAZ specific content from DAZ3D is easily installed with DIM. If your manual installation is correct, your content will appear in My Library under it's specific category. They may be several folder levels down in the hierarchy depending on vendor packaging, but they are there in DS.

Again, the products are for D S and NOT from DAZ so they can become easyly manually installed. I don't think that the DIM is ble to install Zips not from DAZ as the installation inormation files are not included. When you copied them manually to the right folders you should see them after a restr or with a right mouse click on the My Library folder in the library pane and use Refresh.

Okay. I think there is two places for the products. Smart Content which is linked to your figure, and then content some other place I can't find. Also, under edit there is no backdrop menu like the .pdf for Quick Start tutorial says. At least not in 4.8 The tut is for 4.6. How do I get a backdrop behind my scene? THanks

DAZ until now didn't get it done to write a manual or so, learning by doing or try and error
